Abstract

Patriotic artist Shamil Gaziyev, who enthusiastically and tirelessly glorifies the past history, culture and traditions of Nakhchivan in his works, is one of the artists whose name is mentioned with pride in the history of Azerbaijani painting. If we look at the artist’s career, we can see that there are many highlights in his work.A talented brush master created interesting works in still life, landscape, portrait and other genres. However, we should especially note that the landscape paintings, which are the continuation of the artistic heritage of his predecessor Bahruz Bey Kangarli, are distinguished by their originality in the artist’s work. These works, which are part of the “Old Nakhchivan” series, are true examples of art born from the artist’s love and devotion to the ancient land of Nakhchivan, as well as his admiration for the mysterious nature and history of this land. These works with Nakhchivan themes such as “Pre-revolutionary Nakhchivan”, “Alinja gala”, “Old gala”, “Old Imamzade”, “Covered Bazaar” and others can be considered a special stage in the artist’s creativity both for their color solution and aesthetic-artistic capacity.
