Abstract

The article deals with the position of azerbaijan women in the famity life and their public activity during the Soviet period. The social position and legal status of women are analysed in comparison with the previous periods. The granting of election rights to women during the existence of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic is presented as a phenomenon in the whole East. The contradictive aspects of the Soviet policy concerning to women and tragic life of women during the years of repression are viewed in the article. The archievements of Azerbaijan women in the spheres of education and culture are shown in the article. Paradoxical cases in the family life, public-political and cultural-economic life of women are analysed.
