ENLIGHTENMENT AND WOMENS SOCIAL ACTIVITY IN AZERBAIJAN

Abstract

The scientific conclusions on the history and essence of the enligtenment movement are given in the article. The main directions of Azerbaijan enligteners activity are explained. The service of the intellectuals in the sphere of theatre, press and education are appraised from the scientific point of view. Enlightenment activity of cultural-educational societies are touched upon in the article. The affairs of enlighteners in the sphere of womens education and upbringing are generalized, and the significance of intiatives on womens social activity are explained. The facts dealing with the participation of the Azerbaijan women in the cultural life from the beginning of XX centure are investigated in the article. The problem of social activity of the Azerbaijan women in the example of Sakina khanum Akhundzadeh and Shovket Mammadova are Analysed.
