Abstract

This article is dedicated to zoomorphic and anthropomorphic artifacts found in the medieval Shamkir city. They are presented by ceramic and painted jugs. The aureole, throat or handle of these jugs are made in the form of animals or of human. Basically it's indicated ships, dogs, snakes and birds descriptions. There was also found the fragment of metallic figure that is presented by pin with the statuette of a bird and human. Zoomorphic and anthropomorphic forms were established by ancient people of Azerbaijan as a result of early religion and cosmological view and continued Islamic period as a tradition.
