In the article the development of gardening in Azerbaijan is reviuved in the contact of archeological and ancient written resources, toponimical information, ancient beliefs and folklore reports and etnographic materials. Being as ancient as farming, gardening shows the development of agricultural life, ancient and wellnes of ethnic and religios classes.
In the article the development of gardening in Azerbaijan in XIX-XX cc. was researched on the base of materials faind in Gabala region. Especially, the role of nut, walnut and chestnut trees in the agricultural life of population, the
role of these trees in the outlook and dream interpretation, caring for trees, picking up fruits and keeping methods were descriebed.
