About the History of the Creation of “Uzbek” Ethnonym

Abstract

The issue of establishment of the “uzbek” ethnonym is looked through in the article. The new version of the origin of this ethnonym is offered on the basis of the explaining of new sources and the sources that used before again. The information is introduced for the appearing of the “uzbek” ethnonym in the region of Golden Horde, firstly. The author shows the moving of thousands of Khwarazms to the Eastern European countries by basing to the information in the works of European scientists and travellers. By based on this information, he also notes the settlement of one part of the Khwarazms in the region of Desht-i Kipchak more before the invasions of Genghis Khan. The author results the appearing of “uzbeks” ethnonym in the region of the Golden Horde firstly by basing to the materials of Kostroma chronicle.
