Stage incarnation of comedies on modern theme in Azerbaijan drama in 30s of XX century

Abstract

M.Ibrahimov, who took the first step into dramaturgy with the play “Life” in the mid-30s of the last century, after the death of J.Jabbarli, introduced himself as an artist who broke the crisis with a purely modem play from Azerbaijani literature and satisfied the Bolshevik ideology. The main theme of the play was the stmggle between innovation and antiquity. In the artistic solution
of this empty problem, the author used a lot of satire and humor, elements of comedy. The model based on Jabbarli’s dramaturgy is reflected in a play. The creation of Sabit Rahman’s comedy “Wedding” in 1938 broke the silence of the crisis with a modem comic play in dramaturgy. The work was met with great enthusiasm by the staff of the Azerbaijan National Drama Theater. One of the main reasons for this was the team’s long-standing need for modem comedy. The structure was R.Mustafayev, and the music was composed by S.Rustamov. While the performance is ready, it becomes clear that in some episodes of the play there is dimness, inappropriate, long conversations. Due to these shortcomings, the structure of “Wedding” in the Ganja theater aroused
even more sympathy. Director A.Dadashov shortened the episodes he did not consider suitable for the structure, and as a result, he cleared the “excess burdens” noticeable in the structure of the National Theater and managed to get the main characters more clearly and vividly. However, it should be noted that the search of Ganja residents is not free from a number of shortcomings.
Among the famous comedies, S.Rahman presented “Happy people (Khoshbakhtlar)” to the National Drama Theater in 1940.The work is about the life and livehood of Soviet people. In the 30s and 40s of the last century, our comedy, which embodied the cheerful spirit and optimism of the people, showed its adherence to this tradition in its further development.
