PUBLICATION ETHICS

PEER REVIEW POLICY

The Journal of Young Researcher operates a single-blind peer-review process for all submitted manuscripts until final publication. Aiming to publish only high-quality research, we evaluate all submissions through a rigorous peer-review process guided by the following principles and requirements:

·         Manuscripts must not be simultaneously submitted to multiple journals.

·         The Young Academy of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences strongly condemns all forms of plagiarism. All submitted manuscripts undergo thorough software checks to detect any instances of copied text, unauthorized use of results from other sources, or self-plagiarism.

·         Each manuscript is reviewed by two independent experts recommended by the editorial board. Authors are required to submit their identification card, a publication declaration, and one external review (two reviews for the social sciences and humanities) from specialized experts, along with their manuscript.

·         If revisions are requested by the reviewers, authors must revise their manuscript accordingly and resubmit it for further evaluation.

·         The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision on the manuscript based on the reviewers' reports. Authors are promptly notified of the outcome.

·         Rejected submissions will not be returned to the authors; however, the editorial decision will be communicated to them.

·         The review process is strictly confidential, and the anonymity of all parties involved is maintained throughout.

EDITOR

·         Manuscripts submitted to the journal are evaluated exclusively on the basis of their intellectual and scientific quality. This assessment considers criteria such as the work's significance, novelty, methodological soundness, clarity of presentation, and alignment with the journal's aims and scope. Personal characteristics of the authors–including race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, nationality, religion, political views, or institutional affiliation–are not considered in editorial decisions. Furthermore, all editorial decisions are made free from external interference, whether from governmental bodies or other organizations. The Editor-in-Chief holds full authority over the journal's content and publication schedule.

·         Editors and editorial staff maintain the confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts, sharing information only with the authors, peer reviewers, potential reviewers, editorial advisers, and the publisher as necessary. No unpublished material or ideas disclosed in a submitted manuscript may be used for personal advantage without the express written consent of the author.

·         The editors ensure that all manuscripts submitted for publication undergo thorough peer review by qualified experts in the relevant field.

·         The Editor-in-Chief bears the ultimate responsibility for determining which manuscripts are published in the journal. This decision is made based on an assessment of the manuscript's validity, its significance to researchers and readers, feedback from peer reviewers, and compliance with legal and ethical standards.

PEER REVIEWERS

Reviewers who believe they lack the necessary expertise, are unavailable to meet the review deadline, or have a potential conflict of interest should notify the editors without delay and withdraw from the review process.

All evaluations should be expressed clearly, logically, and constructively to assist authors in effectively revising their manuscripts. Criticism should focus solely on the content and quality of the work itself, and not be directed at the authors personally.

Manuscript contents are strictly confidential. Reviewers must not use or share any information from the manuscript with anyone outside of the editorial process.

Conflicts of Interest. Reviewers are required to inform the editor of any potential conflicts of interest when invited to evaluate a manuscript. Such conflicts may arise if the reviewer is asked to assess a paper authored by someone from the same institution, a former or current student, an academic advisor, or a closely related individual.

AUTHORs

·         Authors must ensure that they submit only entirely original works.

·         Authors must appropriately cite any work, information, or words used from others. They should avoid submitting work or manuscripts copied entirely or in part from others as their own and must refrain from copying or paraphrasing substantial parts of another's paper without proper attribution.

·         Any form of plagiarism – including duplicate publication, text recycling, or self-plagiarism – is an unethical and unacceptable practice in academic publishing and must be strictly avoided.

·         Individuals who have made significant contributions to the work – such as providing technical support, assistance with writing or editing, or overall direction – but who do not qualify as authors should be acknowledged in the "Acknowledgments" section of the manuscript rather than being listed as authors.

·         Authors should report all potential conflicts of interest that could influence the research or its interpretation.

·         All sources of financial support for the work should be disclosed, including any grant numbers or other reference numbers, where applicable.

·         Confidential information acquired through private conversations, written communications, or discussions with third parties may not be used or disclosed without the express written consent of the source.

·         Authors must address all reviewer comments in detail and return their revised manuscript promptly.

·         Authors have a responsibility to promptly notify the journal's editors and to cooperate with them in correcting any significant errors or inaccuracies discovered in their published work, either through the publication of an erratum or by retracting the manuscript or article.

PLAGIARISM POLICY
Authors must submit only original and unpublished manuscripts to the Journal of Young Researcher. Each manuscript should include appropriate citations to prevent plagiarism or the duplication of the authors' prior work. The editorial board of the JYR will reject any manuscript found to contain plagiarism at any stage of the publication process. Additionally, manuscripts that have been submitted elsewhere will not be considered for publication.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI) USE POLICY

Authors are permitted to utilize generative AI or AI-assisted technologies (e.g., ChatGPT, DeepL, Grammarly) exclusively for linguistic enhancement purposes, such as improving grammar, style, or translation. The use of such tools must be limited to editorial assistance and must be conducted under direct human oversight.

ARCHIVING
Our journal offers readers full access to published articles, which are seamlessly accessible online through our website or available for download as PDFs for offline reading.

Our entire digital content – including the website, manuscripts, and related materials – is distributed across two distinct sources. While one server hosts the online content for reader accessibility, an identical backup copy is securely maintained on another source.

Authors are encouraged to self-archive the final published version of their work in institutional and public repositories. For this purpose, the final PDF version available on the journal's official website is highly recommended for use.
