The creation of female images in Azerbaijani literature and the study of their poetic features are important for the history of Azerbaijani literature. In every period of our literature, female ima- ges, acting as carriers of social, cultural and spiritual values, are characterized by various poetic shades. In classical poetry, the image of a woman was most often depicted as a symbol of ideal bea- uty, pure, as well as Divine love, high spirituality and sublime feelings, embodied in the works of such thinkers as Nizami, Fuzuli, Khatai. In the realistic literature of the 19th century, female images expressed the social realities of society, the limitations of traditions, and a woman's desire for freedom. Mirza Fatali Akhundzade, Jalil Mammadkulizade and other realist writers used female images to highlight the ideas of Enligh- tenment, freedom and equality. During this period, the woman was presented as an active partici- pant not only in family life, but also in social life.
On the other hand, in modern Azerbaijani literature, female images are becoming richer and richer, not only limited to love and everyday themes, but taking an active position in socio-political processes, the struggle for national identity and freedom. The inner, emotional world, the search for freedom and identity of female heroines have become one of the main directions of artistic creativity. Thus, in Azerbaijani literature, the poetic characteristics of female images changed in accordance with the ideological, aesthetic and social requirements of different eras, while at the same time remaining an important artistic means of expressing the place and role of women in society. This process of developing our literature shows the relevance of the women's theme that still exists.
