Abstract

The article analyzes the stylistic features of the Suite for Flute and Piano composed by Hono-red Art Worker of the Republic, composer, pianist, and pedagogue Ceyhun Allahverdiyev. Firstly, the reasons behind the creation of the Sonata for Flute and Piano by the composer are clarified. During the analysis process, an associative connection is observed between parts of the piece and the Concertino for flute and string orchestra by the composer’s teacher and mentor Arif Meli-kov, as well as his ballet music (particularly scenes from the ballet Legend of Two Hearts, Kom-den’s Dreams, and others). This connection is evident both in terms of musical expression and the closeness of the imagery. Notably, through comparative analysis, it is determined that the musical language of the Suite reflects mugham-like features, mugham performance elements, principles of musical material deve-lopment, and the synthesis of modern music with national musical traditions. All of these are interp-reted as influences from Arif Melikov’s works.
