    Abstract

This article provides information on the study of the component composition of the essential oil obtained from the fruits of the plant Zosima absinthifolia (Vent.) Link. The plant Zosima absinthifolia is the only species of the genus Zosima Hoffm. family Apiaceae Lindl. in Azerbaijan. Plant material for research was collected around Gobustan in the fruiting phase. A transparent yellow essential oil was obtained from the fruits of the plant by hydrodistillation with a yield of 5.5%. The component composition of the essential oil was studied by Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry. A total of 38 components have been identified in the composition of the essential oil. According to the results obtained, the chemical components of essential oil can be conditionally divided into 3 groups: Group I includes the dominant component octyl acetate (77.87%) and cyclopropane, pentyl (6.33%); Group II includes components whose content varies in essential oil from 1 to 3% - β-ulangen (1.08%), bornyl acetate (1.08%), eucalyptol (1.73%), cyclohexane, ethenyl (2.58%), octanal (2.62%), propanoic acid octyl ester (2.78%); Group III includes components whose content varies in essential oil less than 1% - sabinene (0.13%), spatulenol (0.14%), caryophyllene oxide (0.11%), γ-pyronene (0.16%), δ- amorphene (0.21%), germakrene D (0.51%) and etc.
