    Abstract

The article is dedicated to the Upper Shirvan Canal, which was commissioned to supply irrigation water to lands in the Shirvan plain (Yevlakh, Agdash, Goychay, Ujar, Kurdamir, Ismayilli and Agsu). The article initially examines the current state of hydro-ameliorative systems, ameliorative-hydrogeological condition in the areas located in the impact zone of the Upper Shirvan Canal
with a water capacity of 78 m3per second, taking into account the degree of salinization . At the same time, a brief analysis of the current state of irrigation networks in the above-mentioned regions by administrative districts was conducted. In addition, the article provides information on water economy balances, their types and components, and the compilation of current and future water balance of the Upper Shirvan Canal. It was determined that the cross-sectional dimensions of the canal were deformed, the hydraulic structures on it partially lost their function, which in turn caused 302.6 million m3 of water loss during the year. In the final part, taking into account the feasibility study prepared for the USHC, it was proposed to carry out major repairs and reconstruction with a new project. According to rough estimates, after the completion of the reconstruction work, the water losses of the USHC will be reduced to 143 million m3 and the efficiency will reach 0.95.
