GEOLOGICAL AND GEOCHEMICAL STUDY OF MUD VOLCANO BRECCHIA IN EASTERN AZERBAIJAN

On the basis of new data, for the first time, the mud volcano breccia of the mud volcanoes located in the Baku archipelago, Shamakhy-Gobustan and Lower Kura oil and gas regions have been detailed studied. Taking into account the geological structure and structural-tectonic features of the distribution areas of mud volcanoes, some regularities associated with the chemical and mineralogical nature of the breccias were established. Thus, in the evolutionary history of paleobasin, there is a tendency to increase the influence of the marine environment on the formation of breccia, released as a result of the daily activity of mud volcanoes located in the direction from Central Gobustan towards the Baku archipelago. The higher values of some trace elements, such as Cu, V, and Mo, in the mud volcanic breccia of Central Gobustan, are associated with the influence of the richness of organic matter in the Eocene-Miocene deposits. In the direction from Central Gobustan to the Caspian Sea, including in the direction of the island mud volcanoes, the trend towards a decrease in the content of clay minerals and, conversely, an increase in feldspars, may be associated with the peculiarities of paleoweathering of the parent rocks, may depend on the distance and velocity of debris transported into the paleobasin.
