THE ROLE OF BAKU CITY IN INTERNAL MIGRATION PROCESSES

Abstract

Migration processes affecting demographic indicators occur under the influence of political, economic and social factors. The change of the political structure in Azerbaijan in the 1990s had a serious impact on the economic and social situation. Both in the country and in the city of Baku, migration processes have changed their direction. In 1990-2000, population migration outside the city accelerated. After 2000, the intensity of migration from the regions to Baku began to increase. As a result, it led to the gathering of demographic potential here. The main purpose of the research work is to study the influence of Baku city on internal migration processes, to investigate the socio-economic factors affecting migration. It is also necessary to analyze the observed changes in the population size and age composition as a result of the increase in migration, and to justify the solutions to the problems revealed as a result of the research.
