Abstract

The development of the chemical, oil and gas, metallurgical and energy industries, along with positive aspects causes environmental pollution. If we add to this the exhaust gases emitted by vehicles, the amount of harmful gases emitted into the atmosphere amounts to millions of tons. Currently, the most promising method for reducing emissions is the use of catalysts, which are one of the most effective methods for neutralizing exhaust gases. The main catalysts are Pt, Pd, Au, Ag, etc. noble metals based catalytic systems that exhibit activity at very high temperatures up to 600-800°C. In the presented article, new VPO catalytic systems modified with Co and Cu have been developed, which do not contain valuable noble metals, but exhibit similar activity at 200-400°C. Using physicochemical methods (X-ray phase analysis, nitrogen adsorption-desorption method and thermal analysis methods), the activity of the synthesized catalysts in the conversion of carbon monoxide into carbon dioxide was studied and their characteristics has been studied.
