The film industry, along with the music and fashion industries, is one of the most profitable sectors of culture. This sector is one of the important areas affecting unemployment. Thus, both cinema and theater are teamwork and combine many areas of work. Actor, director, screenwriter, lighting, make-up artist, costume designers and stylists, sound director, producer, etc. such professionals operate in both fields. Cultural areas create a wide economic potential by supporting other areas of the economy with the added value they create. The film industry is one of the leading industries. Our country had a strong film industry during the Soviet era, and our locally produced films were well received both in the former Soviet countries and beyond. However, the situation that arose in the country after the period of independence did not escape the film industry. Since this period, the number of films produced has decreased, and the quality of the films has not met the requirements of modern times. The situation has reduced the interest in locally produced films among the population. However, although the number of locally produced films has increased relatively in the last ten years, it has not yet reached the desired level. The purpose of writing the article is to investigate the current situation of the film industry in our country and to reveal the negative nuances here. In the article, the gaps in the local film industry were determined based on the data and figures published in various mass media and the steps to be taken in this direction were noted. I would like to note that the economic aspects of the film industry, as in other cultural fields, have not been investigated in our country. The article is one of the first scientific studies conducted in these directions.
