Aero photogrammetry is a key technique for producing reliable, geometrically accurate, highresolution geographic data. Passive and active digital imaging is rapidly replacing film imaging in capturing photogrammetric data. Calibration processes of digital photogrammetric aerial imaging systems are under development. The main challenges in the development of calibration are the wide variation in digital systems, the need for radiometric calibration, and the need for accurate system calibration. Test field calibration is a potential approach to determine system calibration. The hypothesis of this study is that field test system calibration is necessary for digital photogrammetric aerial surveying systems and should include calibration geometry, spatial resolution and radiometry. At the same time, the article provided extensive information about aerial cameras and their internal structure. A description of the internal aspect of AFA was given. It also shows the structure of the lens and the location of the diaphragm. The causes of distortion and the conditions necessary for the minimization of the distortion and the calibration of the AFA due to the knowledge of these causes are indicated. This article also mentions asymmetric, symmetric and radial distortion processes.
