Abstract

The article examines specific aspects of the regional contribution to the establishment of international relations of the country using the northwestern region, especially the Sheki district of Azerbaijan as an example. It is particularly emphasized that the unitary form of government of Azerbaijan determines its own rules and features of the participation of the country's regions in the country's external relations; the regions do not act as parties endowed with the attributes of subjectivity, as is the case with federal states, but as integral parts of the Republic of Azerbaijan, called upon to carry out tasks arising from the strategic goals of the entire country. In the article, using the northwestern region of the country as an example, this thesis is clearly confirmed based on various facts. At the same time, special emphasis is put on the cultural ties of the region, which contribute to the general cultural communication of Azerbaijan with the outside world. An analysis of the facts of international cooperation in this region allowed us to conclude that the potential of the regions, primarily the northwestern region of Azerbaijan, can be used to promote Azerbaijani culture and art in the world, and economic opportunities and tourism potential promise advantageous prospects.
