The protection of the environment and its resources and their efficient use is one of the most important problems of the modern era, and it is one of the urgent issues that need to be solved. In this regard the Institute of Dendrology of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, it is necessary to protect biodiversity, restore green areas, effectively protect and use existing resources, increase the species diversity of trees and shrubs and expand the use of plant species that are resistant to adverse environmental factors against the background of global climate change research is ongoing. In addition to local trees and shrubs, introducers are also widely used in the greening of parks and gardens. Our cultural flora is constantly enriched with new species and varieties. Since 2000, with intensive imports from Italy and Turkey, the cultivated areas have expanded considerably. Arbutus unedo L. has been in the plant collection of the Institute of Dendrology since 2017. The fact that it is mainly a decorative evergreen and has a beautiful umbrella shape as well as being able to grow in most soil and climate conditions, the plant is of great importance in ornamental horticulture from an aesthetic point of view. Economic efficiency necessitated its widespread use. Our long-term observations show that Arbutus unedo L. specimens older than 8-10 years were better introduced in many areas of Azerbaijan, especially on the Absheron Peninsula. Since imported plants are economically expensive, it is very necessary to propagate new specimens of these plants in local conditions. One of such plants that needs to be propagated is Arbutus unedo L. Depending on the biological characteristics of the Arbutus unedo L. species, various methods were studied - generative and vegetative organs, as well as effective methods of propagation.
