Abstract

This article analyzes the Mashadi Hassan character, the protagonist of the fourth story in Gholam-HosseinSa'edi's wor of The Mourners of Bayal. Mashadi Hasan is a mad figure who has been deeply shaken by the sudden death of the cow and suffered from severe and psychotic depression. According to historical sources, the image was inspired by Buwayhi Prince Abu Talib, whom the great physician and philosopher of the East, Abu 'Ali al-Husayn ibn Sina, cured of Boanthropy.
