Galipfrom Leskof is considered to be the most successful and the last poet among the poets who continued the traditions of Divan poetry in the XIX century.
Galib, the founder of the literary group ‘Anjumani Shuara’ (Poets council), argued that it is impossble to renew without leaving the traditions of classical poetry.
Just as the decree laid the foundations for the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, so did Divan's literature, one of the traditional pillars of the state, be abolished by Galib's reforms in classical literature. After those reforms, Divan poetry began to weaken.
