Abstract

Nawal El Saadawi (1931-2021), one of the well-known female writers of the Egyptian literature, always kept spotlight on difficulties, obstacles and problems, injustice and violence facing Arab women in her writings. The article looks at these problems through the writer’s ‘Memoirs of a Woman Doctor’ novel.
Nawal El Saadawi believes that the future development and prosperity of the stateand society depends on the freedom, success and education of women who give birth to citizens.
In all of her works, the writer regards gender inequality, discrimination against women as thr main factors hindering the development of Arab states.
‘Memoirs of a Woman Doctor’ novel sheds light on many factors to reveal problems not only in Egypt, but in majority of Arab-Muslim states.
