Abstract

Many religious examples of Islamic culture as well as clothings and items used for worship preserved at the History Museum are of great interest. These items preserved in the ethnographic fund clearly reflect the importance of Islamic values in traditional household and Muslim lifestyle. The items are mainly attributed to the early 19th and 20th centuries. The Koran and cases for Koran, wall decorations with religious content, prayer carpet, prayer clay, rosaries, aba and ammams, sheets, rubands preserved in the fund have taken a special place in terms of their originality. These preserved samples contain the historical essence of the people, local-artistic features and cultural elements. Certain ideas about religious and cultural traditions are also formed. These art examples with religiouscontent are also of special importance from the historical-ethnographic point of view. Prayer and prayer bowls, protective amulets, alam, kashkuls, kirkhachar, kirkhachar glasses, rosaries, turbat and other items allow us to trace the elements of Islamic life and the characteristic features of Muslim culture. Each of these examples, made with high artistic taste, attracts attention with the traditional material and spiritual types of Islam. The household items that bring to life certain aspects of Islamic culture also contain materials with religious content related to ceremonies. The exhibits presented in the collection of the Museum of History demonstrate the religious characteristics and cultural traditions of the muslim world as a heritage that glorifies Islamic values. Azerbaijan’s contributions to the promotion of Islamic culture have a special role.
