29th Bahman Rebellion in Tabriz (18.02.1978) and Its Place in the Formation of the Iranian Islamic Revolution
Keywords:

The article argues that the uprising in Tabriz shook Iranian society, and inflamed hatred against the Shah's regime, and was a source of inspiration and impetus for the movements of various sections. At the same time, it is determined that the institutional support of the Iranian regime is not strong enough to withstand the pressures of unequal development and unequal modernization. Although the protests began in late 1977 with the participation of democratically-minded and progressive sections of the intelligentsia and students, the persecution and repression of the secular opposition forces have strengthened the activities and organizational skills of Shiite clerics.
