Abstract

The war for the independence of Algeria is a complex military-political conflict, or, as some have noted, an insurrectional spectacle between colonialist France and armed guerrilla groups. The conflict ended in victory, although the uprising was crushed by the French with the most brutal methods. Algeria was recognized as an independent state. This history is the most important event for both states, both in the pre-war and post-war years. It was the fall of the Fourth French Republic and the emergence of ultra-nationalist sentiment in the army. French society did not dare recognize the independence of the colony, as it considered Algeria to be an integral part of the country.
