The socio-political life of Azerbaijan in the 19th century in the footsteps of Khurshudbanu Natavan

Abstract

Today, our women are loyal guardians of the family and the hearth. The courage, zeal, intelli-gence and cultural example of the Azerbaijani woman is the face of our people. This study deals with the famous poet and public figure ‘Khan Kizi’ Khurshidbanu Natavan. Khurshidbanu Natavan had bright talent and advanced ideals. The famous poetess occupies a special place in the history of our literature as a brilliant talent. She left deep traces in Azerbaijani culture and public life. The article describes her hard life, sufferings, as well as her meeting with A. Duma, in which Duma gave her chess as a gift.
