Abstract

The problem of woman occupies an important place in the work of the famous Arab writer Emily Nasrallah (إيميلي نصر الله ). She occupies an important position among Lebanese writers. Although the author's work belongs to the modern style of writing, she did not remain indifferent to classical Arabic literature. In the works of this famous prose writer, women are distinguished by a red line. Topics such as women's freedom, self-knowledge, class struggle, preventing the oppres-sion of women in the East, women's love, misfortune, war, displacement are the main areas of her work.
In the works of Emily Nasrallah, especially in her stories, one should also mention the event, time, place, human factor, the woman's point of view and her perception as a symbol.
During her lifetime, the author's work published in many countries and and were awarded with high awards. The novel ‘Birds of September’ won the Best Sister, Mind, Book Friend awards in 1962, and a collection of articles won the Fairuz Magazine award. ‘The birds of September’ play an important role in the writer's work in terms of reflecting both the attitude to tradition and the modern worldview. It is no coincidence that western sources, referring to the writer, call her ‘the mother of the Lebanese novel’. As her birth and work, the writer’s death too caused a great resonance in the world literary community.
