THE ETHNOGRAPHY AND ETHNIC HISTORY OF KRYZ

Abstract

The Qrız ethnos related to the Shahdag groups is the Azerbaijani ancient Albanian ethnos. Kryz village of Guba region is their main village. In spite of the fact that qrız compactly settled in the Kryz village, they also reside in the other Guba’s villages like Kryz, Dahne, Jek, Hapıt and also in the few villages of the Xacmaz district. The Kryz’s village also was the first resided place by the related to Kryz’s groups jek, alık, hapıt, yerguj The ancestries of jeks, аlıks, hapıts, yergujs separated from the Kryz village and established the same name villages: Jek, Alık, Hapıt, Yerguj. The above-mentioned ethnic groups also relate their origin with the village Kryz and speak of hapıt, jek, alık, yerguj dialects of the kryz language. The Kryz’s are descendants of “her” (er) tribes resided in the Caucasian Albania. This article searching the ethnic history, area of distribution, ethno genetic communication, ethnic customs and several cultic rituals of the qrız ethnic groups also related to qrız ethnos hapıts, jeks, alıks and yergurjs which are the heirs of the ancient Albanian tribes.
