ABOUT THE MEDIEVAL FORTIFICATIONS (On the basis of Sheki, Oghuz and Gabala monuments)

Abstract

Article has dedicated to the medieval fortifications which situated in Sheki, Oghuz and Gabala territories. Terkesh, Oghuz, Mukhas, Aydinbulag, Kungut, Surkhab castles, Gyz qalalari (Maiden towers), also, Govurgala fortification types like as Khachmas, Keldek and Bum castles (with Akhitepe) had been drown into research work. After Arabic conquest Govurgala fortification types almost collapsed and lost its importance. After the adoption of Islam other castles which has been enumerated, played a great role to defend of the territory.
