Methodological issues of modern Azerbaijani language lexicon

Abstract

Although lexical semantics is a topic studied in the field of linguistics, the study of lexical semantics in the field of corpus linguistics is new. By studying lexical semantics with corpus linguistics methods, there is a need to show the tendencies of words through natural language data. The task of studying the lexical meaning from a systematic, structural and paradigmatic-syntagmatic point of view requires the discussion of a number of ontological and methodological issues in advance. There are four main theoretical trends behind the development of lexical semantics: prestructuralist semantics, structuralist and neostructuralist semantics, generative and neogenerative semantics, and cognitive semantics. In this article, after giving brief information about the historical progress of the methodological issues of the modern Azerbaijani language lexicon, it is presented in detail with semantic examples and its contribution to semantics is discussed.
