Abstract

New words were formed from the need to name different things and events .Additionally , as a result of changes in the meaning of the words the same things and events were named differently in American and British variants. One of the distinguishing features of American variant is that it was formed under completely different circumstances fom British variant . Hence , newly coined words were influenced by languages such as , Indian , Spanish , French , Italian , German , partially changed , and presented in a different way . The lexical differences between the variants are directly related to the innovations that have taken place in the political and social life of America . Taking into account the apparent superiority and influence of the United States in the world , we must accept the dominance of American English .

We shoul note a fact that in recent times American and English linguists are co-operating in the writing books addressed to the English -speaking countries in general . Furthermore, radio, TV and other media resources are considered unifying factors to reduce differences between two variants. Thus, films and newspapers lead to the spread of American colloquial language and slangs in Great Britain , where the differnces are more noticeable. The differences that exist in American variant are more noticeable in spoken language. Despite all the contrary opinions, American English is considered the literary language of the American people. This fact excludes the possibility that American variant is a dialect.

It can be concluded that the English and Americans understand all the words of literary language and speak the same language. In this sense, American language, American dialect, and even the term American variant that we have used for stylistic purposes in our article are wrong.
