Summary
There is no language in the world whose vocabulary consists only of its own national words. Borrowings form a certain layer in the lexical composition of each language along with its national words. Although a large part of the vocabulary of the Azerbaijani language consists of lexical units of Turkic origin, there are also words from Arabic-Persian and European languages in our language. Some of the lexical units of European origin in the Azerbaijani language include words of English origin.Although there were words of English origin in the Azerbaijani language during the Soviet period, the number of such words increased during the years of independence. The reason for this was the intensification of economic, political and cultural relations between Azerbaijan and Great Britain. The article examines the lexical-semantic features of the words that were transferred from English to Azerbaijani during the years of independence.
