Ashiq art has an exceptional role in the history of the national cultural system of Azerbaijan: it is impossible to imagine the whole existence and essence of our national culture outside of ashiq art and creativity. This is primarily due to the fact that ashiq activity is a folklore phenomenon and this factor underlies all its historical functionality in the national culture system.
Four levels of aestheticism are observed in the activities of the ashiqs of the Western Azerbaijan:
1. Glorification of spiritual beauties associated with religious-divine values;
2. Glorification of beauties associated with love;
3. Glorification of beauties associated with nature;
4. Glorification of beauties associated with social values.
These examples involved in the study of the works of the ashiqs and folk poets of the Western Azerbaijan show that all the aesthetic values in this poetry had the meaning of divine light. The folk poets and ashiqs accepted the human, nature, the living and inanimate world as beings created by Allah, glorifying respect for the human, nature-glory and love as love for the Almighty. The aesthetic values in the activities of the Western Azerbaijani ashiqs and folk poets are therefore still alive in memory, loved and instilled beauty in people.
