THE FIRST CYCLE OF “FORTY BATYRS” – EDIGEY AND HIS DESCENDANTS

Abstract

The series of epics “Anshibay Batyr and His Descendants” is the first of three links in the cyclization “Qırkh Batyr” (Forty Batyrs). The epics included in this series are dedicated to the heroes who came from the mangit lineage and in many cases are historical figures. The main core of the first of the three links of the cyclization is the saga “Edigei”. All the sagas that followed him were dedicated to people belonging to his lineage.

Thus, the saga of Edigey can be considered the main link connecting the other epics in the series. This cyclization included ten epic works.
