PAREMIOLOGICAL UNITS IN THE EPISTLE “KITABI-DEDE GORGUD”
Keywords:
“Kitabi-Dede Korkut”, genre, proverbs, applause, cursesAbstract
In general, “Kitabi-Dede Korkut”, the first written epic of Middle Ages Turkish literature, is also a magnificent linguistic monument. In the epic, historical events and artistic plot are clearly and completely expressed in a metaphorical language. In particular, the examples from Dede Korkut's language are excellent not only in terms of logic and manners, but also in terms of language. In the introduction and stanzas of the epic, in appropriate cases, small folklore genres such as proverbs, eulogies and beddua are used. However, the proverbs in the introductory section are given in a specific grouping corresponding to the end of each text. As in the introduction, prayers and praises are said during the development of events, especially at the end of each stanza. Curses were also used in the legend. Although these are bad prayers, they become an expression of anger in moments that do not suit the spirit and state of mind of the Oghuz heroes. These small types - paremiological units - coincide with the general cone of the epic and are consistent with the theme and idea.
