Abstract

Sheki has historically been famous for its high quality silk. The fame of Shaki silk has long gone beyond the borders of Azerbaijan. In relatively later times, after the occupation of Azerbaijan by Russia, Sheki silk could only be brought to the world market by the Russians. Thus, during the Soviet period, silk produced in Sheki, clothes and household items made from it were presented on the world market under the name of Soviet silk and household items produced in the Soviet Union. At that time, Shaki silk was eagerly used in the republics of the former union, as well as in various regions of Azerbaijan. Of course, in order to create such beautiful and high-quality silk, it is necessary to have high-quality silkworm, along with high technology and production methods that meet world standards. For this, the task of providing Sheki's sericulture factory with raw materials mainly fell on Sheki's villages. In this regard, we want to emphasize the special importance of silkworm grown in Goynuk villages, along with silkworm grown in other areas of Sheki. In this article, we will talk about the cultivation of silkworm based on the information we collected from that area.
