SOME NOTES ON ALL-TURKIC DESCENT EPICS

Abstract

Descent epics have a special place in the mythology of the Turkic peoples.
The article examines the origin of the first man in all-Turkic epics, nature-human relations, the connection of miraculously born children with the divine world. The human beings created by God, Erlik's (Satan's) leading man into sin, and children born of various living and non-living beings in nature are the main themes of the epics. The author has made a comparative study of such mythical subjects, images and motives preserved in the epics of creation and descent, and clarified the mythological semantics of the forces involved in the creation of the first man.
