EPIC TIME PECULIARITIES IN MAGIC FAIRY TALES

Abstract

The article studies the characteristic features of epic time in magic fairy tales. It is noted that epic time is considered subjective time because it is formed in accordance with the poetic features, social function of the groups of fairy tales and the idea that they want to instill in society. Unlike the other groups of fairy tales, in magic fairy tales, time is described in a fantastic way and given in fantastic lines on the basis of examples of Azerbaijani fairy tales. A hero who ac- quires magical powers can move the time forward or backward and bring a dead person back to life. In a word, magical power gives the hero endless power. A person with magical powers transforms a green valley into a dry desert, turns a city into a lake, its people into fish, and changes the plot of the elements of space.
The article also notes that time, together with space, forms a poetic system of fairy tales and becomes a distinguishing feature of fairy tale groups, and the study of the epic time characteristics makes it easier to distinguish fairy tale groups. One-The time’s of being in one way direction of the tale, the metaphorical expression of the future, the expression of the past and the future tenses within the present tense, the “in the ancienttimes” used in the initial formulas, the “past”, the issues giving the impression that events took place in the distant past are exp- lained through concrete examples of fairy tales. The use of the words expressing time related to the solar and lunar calendars, the reasons why the existence of those worlds is longer in biological time, the concept of biographical time, and the polarization of day and night in fairy tales are also reflected in the article.
