Abstract

At the core of the national identity of every nation is its mythological identity.
In this respect, Oghuz-Turkish mythology, which systematizes the consciousness of Oghuz mythical identity, forms the substrate of the ethnocosmic existence of Azerbaijan.
Ancestor cult is the basis of the mythical identity of the people. In mythology and traditional thought, the ancestor is the most important concept of meaning, encompassing the entire diachronic and synchronic structure of social consciousness.
Thus, the semantic terms "ancestor" and "state" were even used as synonyms of each other throughout the entire history of Oghuz ethnocosmic thought. That is, according to the Oguz: The ancestor is the state, and the state is also the ancestor Without ancestors, there is no state.
The existence of the state means the existence of the ancestor.
The oldest formulas of national identity live in beliefs. Azerbaijani folk beliefs reflect the physical and spiritual life experience of the ethnos from the earliest times to the present day.
