Abstract

The article notes that the study of Hussein Javid's work was not a priority in the works of one of the founders of Azerbaijani literary criticism, academician Mammad Arif Dadashzade. Nevertheless, the exceptional originality of the poet's worldview, his creations, which are a complex synthesis of philosophy and mysticism, the polysemantic nature of the images created by him, could not remain outside the field of view of the scientist. The main object of the article is M.Arif's review of the staging of H.Javid’s play “Khayyam”, staged in 1970 by the outstanding director and actor Mehdi Mammadov. It is emphasized that the reviewer very clearly caught and managed to convey the spiritual closeness, a common view of the fate of the world, humanity of the great thinker, the poet of the Middle Ages O.Khayyam and the poet of the twentieth century H.Javid. The article also reveals M.Arif's attitude to the mysterious-philosophical content of H.Javid's works, provides a general assessment given by scientists to the poet's artistic heritage, and clarifies his position regarding determining the place of the master's immortal creations in the history of Azerbaijani literature.
