Abstract

The study of the peculiarities of the poetic art of lyricism in Azerbaijan in the 18th century, along with the formation of the initial signs of early realism in our poetry, which represents a significant stage in the development of our literature, also served as the emergence of new themes and motifs in literature, the significance of a new representation of their differences. We clearly see the function of transition between divan poetry and realism, which are the main signs of early realism in the Azerbaijani lyricism of the mentioned century during the analysis of artistic features of literary samples of the period. One of the descriptive means that are most used in the art of poetry and increase the artistic meaning of the word, is the artistic definitions called tosif in classical poetics. In the article, the artistic definitions characterizing the early realism in the 18th century Azerbaijani lyrics are elaborated.
Although characteristics of mastery of 18th century Azerbaijani lyrics have been studied in the past (e.g., Araz Dadashzade, 18th century Azerbaijani lyrics, 1980), this is the first study to examine the poetic figures confirming the reality of early realism (more specifically: epithets).
During the research, work was carried out on literary texts, hermeneutic and historical-comparative methods were used.
