Preserving the individuality of a foreign language text in a metatext

Abstract

The presented article analyzes some approaches to the problem of translation in the context of developing contacts between peoples, when we are constantly surrounded by an intercultural and interlingual communicative situation. In the modern era, one can see the desire to create new conceptual models of translation, which is the result of a qualitative rethinking of the processes and phenomena associated with the professional activities of translators.
Being a complex, multifaceted and multidimensional type of human activity, the issues of translation at all times cause acute controversy in the theory of translation. Translation as a creative process is associated with the characteristics of a foreign language culture. Therefore, the translator, as well as the sender and the receptor, is an independent linguistic personality, a full-fledged participant in interlanguage communication, who can be a carrier of either the original language or the target language. That is why the creation of the translation text is a complex process that involves working with the primary text – the original and the metatext, i.e. translation. In this material, we have sought to shed light on some of the issues of teaching the translation craft. Paying attention to the fact that in the process of recreating the original in a new cultural and cognitive environment, translation strategies are developed, the search for equivalents to the units of the original and the generation of translation are underway.
