Abstract

The article provides detailed information about the works of Azerbaijani poet Izzaddin Hasanoghlu, who lived in the 13th century, and his manuscript titled “Kitabi Sirat an-Nabi”, which was discovered in Finland. Until 2009, only three poems written in Turkish by Hasanoghlu were known. The article emphasizes that this particular work had been mistakenly attributed to various other authors until recently. There are approximately 40 copies of the manuscript in Türkiye, Sarajevo, Hungary, and Germany, all of which, as noted, were recorded under the names of different authors. The article highlights that one of the researchers, a scholar named Bayram Özfırat, argued in his 2014 academic paper that the author of this work attributed to Hasanoghlu was actually a poet named “Muhammad Efendi” with the pseudonym “Vali”. Özfırat later published the work in two volumes in 2019.

The article also clarifies, with supporting evidence, that Özfırat made a mistake in his attribution of the work, emphasizing that the manuscript indeed belongs to Hasanoghlu.
