Abstract

The article explains the meaning of the word “tuyuk”, as well as the formation, its development and role in the Turkic-speaking classical poetry. It differs that, despite the fact that tuyuk is created in the rhythm of aruz, at the same time it is a genre of Turkic poetry. The formation of tuyuk dates back to about the 12th-13th centuries. And already in the XIV century in Turkic poetry we find its developed examples. We are convinced of this when we get acquainted with the tuyuks of Kazi Burkhaneddin. In subsequent centuries, both in the Azerbaijani and Central Asian literatures of the Turkic peoples, quite perfect samples of tuyuk were created.
As noted, tuyuk is created in the measure of aruz. The poetry in the Turkic language is mostly created in syllabic meter. Therefore, the article touches upon the difficulties caused by tuyuk created in aruz verses in opposition to Turkish poetry. At the same time, we are talking about the connections of tuyuk with music. In addition to the above, the article explains the genre features, the rhyme system, common and distinctive features of the tuyuk with the rubai genre. It should be noted that in the medieval period Chagatai Turkic was used to create vivid examples of poetry in this genre.
