Translation of A.P.Chekhov’s story “Ward No.6” into Azerbaijani language

Abstract

This article is dedicated to the translation of one of Chekhov’s most valuable works, “Ward No.6”, into Azerbaijani. The article deals with the famous story of A.P.Chekhov “Ward No.6” from the literary and traslational aspects. In this story, Chekhov raises social and philosophical problems. Chekhov in the compared the hospital with a prison, and the mentally ill with prisoners. The story “Ward No.6” was written in 1892. This story was published in the “Russian Thought” magazine. Events take place in hospital wing. The main characters of the story are the mentally ill Ivan Gromov and Dr. Andrey Ragin. The story “Ward No.6” was translated into Azerbaijani by I. Nefisli. The article examines the characters, events in the story by A.Chekhov in Azerbaijani literary criticism. And also the problems of traslation into Azerbaijani of the story “Ward No.6” by Chekhov are revealed. This article deals with opinions, conclusions, M.Rafili, M.Bagirov, M.Arif and others about the story “Ward No.6”.
