Abstract

Until now, the work of the Azerbaijani poet of the 16th century Masihi Tabrizi has not been the object of special research. Of the poet’s literary heritage, only the Divan of lyrical poems has reached us. Acquaintance with this Divan shows that Masihi was one of the talented poets of his era and, inspired by the poetic work of his predecessors, was known as a poet with an original style. But, unfortunately, the poet’s Divan was not known to the scientific community for many years, and for this reason it remained aloof from the attention of researchers. The divan of Masihi’s lyrical poems is distinguished by its colorful themes and genres. All genres used by the poet include examples of Azerbaijani sofa poetry in the rhythm of aruz. Among all the genres in Masihi’s Divan, tuyug attracts special attention. For a long time, in the Divan of the poet, tuyugs were not included in a separate section and were noted as rubai.
But a study of the samples in terms of weight and rhyme confirms that they should be considered tuyugs, and not rubai. Thus, in contrast to rubai, the use of aruz in these samples not in the form of ramal, but in the form of hajaz, and rhymes consisting of jinas words, attracts attention as the main features of the tuyug genre. In the article, for the first time, Masiha Tabrizi's tuyugs are brought into research in the form of a complete collection and are analyzed from the point of view of the artistic features of the theme, weight, rhyme and language.
