On the textual aesthetics of Mir Jalal’s scientific-theoretical and literary-critical views

Abstract

Mir Jalal Pashayev is one of the prominent representatives of the Azerbaijani literary-social thought of the XX century. He is a teacher, writer, literary critic-scientist, pedagogue and public figure.
Mir Jalal taught at Baku State University, wrote literary-theoretical articles, monographs, textbooks and teaching aids, compiled teaching programs.
The prominent literary critic is the first to study Fuzuli’s heritage with modern scientific methodology. He founded the school of poetics in Azerbaijani Fuzuli studies with his work “Fuzuli art”.
Mir Jalal published a monograph on the basis of his doctoral thesis entitled “Literary trends in Azerbaijan” (1905-1917). In the study, prominent representatives and works of critical realism and romanticism were researched.
The scientist’s book “About the realism of Jalil Mammadguluzade” is about the definition and development of realism in Azerbaijani literature. In the book, Azerbaijani realism is followed as a method, creative style and literary trend.
In the book “Romanticism in Literature (Literary-Critical Notes)”, the author talked about the reasons for the emergence of the literary movement of romanticism, its differences from the movement of sentimentalism, and its characteristic features. For the first time, the author gave information about classicism, romanticism and realism.
Mir Jalal and Firidun Huseynov’s textbook “XX century Azerbaijani Literature” summarizes the socio-political situation and literary movement of the period, and provides portrait-essays by chapters.
Mir Jalal and Panah Khalilov’s book “Fundamentals of Literary Studies” (1988) is a textbook for higher schools. In the book, the authors provided scientific-theoretical information about literature, literary works, literary types and genres, artistic style, literary methods and trends.
Mir Jalal’s articles on our literary criticism, theoretical ideas and considerations are also actual.
In this regard, the article focuses on the textual aesthetics of the scientific-theoretical and literary-critical views of the literary critic-scientist.
