Abstract

The article presents a wide panorama of the creative world and poetic capabilities of the national poet Mammad Araz. Having gained fame as the creator of inspired lyrics, Mammad Araz proved himself as a new phenomenon in the literary environment. His creative skills stems from mythical layers, from folk art and classical traditions and in the poet’s soul, his poetry acquires new content and shades. This is manifested in all genres of Mammad Araz’s poetry in the visual means he used to express his thoughts and in the originality of the language.
Such poetic examples as “The Ballad of One Night”, the ballad “Babek’s Sword”, poems written in the genre of conversation with an appeal to his contemporaries Musa Yaqub and Mammad Aslan, the poems “Monologue of a Soldier”, “Monologue of a Man”, etc. enriched the genre diversity of Azerbaijani poetry. And speaking of poetry, we should especially note the perfect creation of lyric with a plot by Mammad Araz.
He also penned a new form of Azerbaijani poetry, introduced for the first time in the original play “Guests of Life,” written in the genre of “comedy-drama”. The poet’s creative art is also rich in the means of original artistic representation and expressive rhyming.
In Azerbaijani literature, the merits of Mammad Araz gained fame as a major national poet.
This creative spirit received even greater free expression during the years of independence.
The article theoretically analyzes and evaluates the poetic features of the creative work of Mammsd Araz.
