Abstract

Karabakh has historically been one of the most significant centers of Turkic culture and continues to play an important role in preserving and promoting the shared cultural heritage of the Turkic world. The region has made substantial contributions to the formation of the cultural identity of Azerbaijan and Turkic peoples in general through its rich literary, musical, and architectural traditions. In particular, the Karabakh mugham school, the art of ashiqs, and various forms of folk creativity are recognized as integral components of Turkic cultural heritage.
In the contemporary period, the cultural significance of Karabakh extends beyond the national level and serves as a catalyst for strengthening cultural cooperation among Turkic states. Ongoing projects aimed at the restoration and preservation of the region’s historical and cultural heritage are of great importance for safeguarding common values and transmitting them to future generations. In this context, Shusha is widely regarded as one of the symbolic cultural capitals of the Turkic world. International cultural events, music festivals, and academic conferences held in Shusha contribute to the enhancement of cultural integration and mutual understanding among Turkic nations.
Furthermore, Karabakh occupies a significant place in the collective historical memory of the Turkic world and plays a vital role in fostering cultural solidarity. The promotion of the region’s cultural heritage at both regional and international levels contributes positively to the development of intercultural relations and cooperation among Turkic countries. Therefore, Karabakh should be viewed not only as a historical and cultural region but also as a symbol of shared cultural identity, unity, and collaboration within the modern Turkic world.
