Distinctive characteristics of traditionally Azerbaijani ornament and it’s semiotic disclosure

Abstract

From the timesof the Ancient World until the beginnin gof the Middle Ages, the elements of
pattern and ornament characteristic of this countryin the territory histori callyknownas Azerbaijan, under the
influece of a number of factors (geographical, ethnological, socio-psychological, political-ideological,
religious...) went through a period of formation characterized by “fusion and mixing”, beginning to be concretized in meaning and form.
The coordinating law, as well as the principles and ideals that unite the components in national ornamental
structures that have gone through a complex historical path in their creation, must be passed through the
analytical prism of research.
From the analysis carried out to date, it is known that a set of systematized symbols, skillfully presented (as
part of the overall structure) against the background of aesthetic taste, creates before the viewer a semantic
picture with specific content.
